Ava Back currently plays for PFC Select’s 07G Green team, under Coach Roberto Lopez.
Sometimes you see a kid kicking a ball, swinging a bat, throwing a football and you know they could be something special. That person is Ava Back. Ava has been kicking the ball since she could walk. She started playing at PAYSL at the young age of four in PAYSL’s Recreational program. Through the years, she cut through our Academy program and moved up to Select to play up two years in a very competitive 2007 team. Her first title came in 2019, when Ava played a year up with the PFC 08G Green team and was named team captain. That same year, her team was honored when the City of Pflugerville proclaimed August 27th as Pflugerville FC 08G Green Champions Day. In 2021, Ava became a two-time STYSA Director’s Cup State Champ! And just this past spring, she took part in the great run that the PFC 09G Green team had, going undefeated and resulting in another state title under her belt.
Now, Ava is headed to the US Youth Soccer South Region ODP (Olympic Development Program). South Region, which covers the 11 states of the southeast region of the United States, accepts only the best players in various age groups and is an invitational-only camp that Ava will be attending this July in Tennessee. We are beyond thrilled to have one of our own take part in this event!
Nothing has been given to this young girl. She has worked extremely hard and put in lots of hours of practice and time of her own to be as successful as she is. She has also made many sacrifices along the way, like missing family events and friends' parties. Even when she could just be relaxing on her own time, she is out practicing a new move. One of her favorite things to say as soon as she gets to practice is, “Look, coach, what I learned this weekend!” What she loves most about soccer is that she can spend time with her teammates and have fun while playing. Even in the off season, soccer continues. This summer she is training at G10 Academy, PFC’s partner club, where she is working with very experienced strength and conditioning coaches in the morning and completing soccer sessions in the afternoon.
Not only is Ava a phenomenal soccer player, she’s also a top student at Kelly Lane Middle School, where she will be attending 7th grade next fall. She also loves swimming, with summer being her favorite season.
We want to congratulate Ava and wish her the best of luck in this camp! We know she will do a great job representing her family, her community, PAYSL, and Pflugerville FC.
