Please help us in saying goodbye to our Director of Coaches, Anthony Maltez. This summer, Anthony will be returning to his roots in New York, where he will be joining the team of New York City FC Academy.
Maltez joined Pflugerville FC in June of 2021, and became the league’s first Director of Coaches. When he took on the role, he said, “I’m excited and humbled to take on the role of Director of Coaches for Pflugerville FC and to be a part of this club. My goal is to bring success and guidance to the club’s coaching staff, players and families.” In the past year, he started the PFC Pfutsal program from scratch, helped organize and run the last three PFC soccer camps, and has steadily grown our Skill Builder clinics. He was also the driving force behind our coach education sessions, helped us find new vendors for uniforms, and kicked off our first annual PFC Coaches Christmas party last year. In addition, he took on the role of coach where he led PFC’s 08B Green team to a first place win in their division at Elite Cup 2022. His passion and drive helped steer our club in a new and improved direction and our Select and Academy programs have grown significantly under his leadership.
PFC Select coach, Anthony Stokes said of Maltez, “Having Anthony as the DOC provided clarity on the fundamentals of the game and how to plan ahead for success. He is extremely passionate about the game and a true visionary. He showed me that development over winning is the key to long term success. Create a plan and see it through. He is a firm believer that we need to develop problem solvers on the field. Teach the kids to be students of the game and they will always love the game.”
From all of us at PAYSL and Pflugerville FC, thank you Anthony! We wish you the best in all your future endeavors. There is no doubt that wherever life leads you, many will sure to follow.
One Team. One Goal.
